Four persons, including three Sri Lankan refugees, have been detained under National Security Act on charges of attempting to lure Tamil refugees from the island nation to go to Australia illegally.
The 'Q' Branch wing of police in the city arrested P Shivashankar, Yo Srijayan, T Sathish Kumar, all Sri Lankan Nationals and T Veeramani of Madurai and on interrogation they said to have confessed that they have taken money and gold ornaments on the promise of taking refugees to Australia, an official release said today.
While three of them were lodged in central jail here and sent another to prison in Chennai, the release said.
