BJP appeals to Rajinikanth for support in polls

BJP state president Pon Radhakrishnan on Friday appealed to actor Rajnikanth to voice in favour of the party in the upcoming parliament election for the welfare of the country.

“He is the most responsible and respected person in the state and he has concerns for the nation in general and the state in particular”, said Radhakrishnan while speaking to mediapersons.

He said, “I issue an open appeal to the actor to take a good decision and voice in favour of the party”, the state president said when asked whether the party would approach  popular personalities to support for the party during the campaign.

Radhakrishan was here to inspect the ongoing works for the scheduled youth wing conference venue at G- Corner where the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is to address the youth from the state. Radhakrishnan inspected the stage resembling the Red Fort which has three platforms. The middle platform would accommodate 10 VVIPs including Modi and party president Rajnath Singh, while other leaders would be seated in the side platforms, Radhakrishnan told the media persons.

Claiming that the state youth wing conference would become a turning point in State politics, he said that at least 1.50 lakh youth would participate the meeting for which applications were being distributed.

“So far about 50,000 persons registered through online and most of them did not belong to the party. Applications were distributed a few days ago and we expect at least one lakh youth to receive them”, he said.

The one hour programme would start at 3 pm. Stating that the count down for the elections would start as soon as the youth wing conference commenced, Radhakrishnan said the election campaign works would subsequently start. There was enormous support for Modi in the state, he said.

He also said the party is ready to accept the support of political parties that come forward to support BJP in the election.
