With support for the BJP growing within the DMDK, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thol Thirumavalavan on Saturday met DMDK president Vijayakant at his party office and asked him to choose the DMK fold to keep the “communal” saffron party and “casteist” PMK from power.
This is the second meeting between the two leaders in recent months. VCK has been a long-time partner of the DMK.
Emerging out of the meeting, Thirumavalavan said he had directly asked Vijayakant to join the DMK alliance for the Lok Sabha polls. The DMDK chief replied that he would reveal his stand at the party State conference in Ulundurpet on February 2.
Asked what his decision would be if the Congress rejoined the DMK alliance given that Union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad met DMK chief M Karunanidhi recently, the MP from Chidambaram dismissed it as a hypothetical question.
