Nurse Booked for Preventing JM From Discharging Duty

The police have filed a case against a nurse working with the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the JIPMER Hospital for deterring the judicial magistrate from discharging his official duty.

PUDUCHERRY: The police have filed a case against a nurse working with the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the JIPMER Hospital for deterring the judicial magistrate from discharging his official duty.

Gorimedu Sub-inspector Nagaraj told Express that Judicial Magistrate I, Ezhilvalavan, was recording the dying declaration of a 13-year-old accident victim from Villupruam when the nurse in-charge of the ICU questioned her colleagues about it. A Subramani, a court staff accompanying the Judicial Magistrate, tried to explain the situation to the nurse, who was in no mood to listen and continued to shout, thus deterring the judge from discharging his duties. She even questioned the presence of the Judge in the ICU ward without her permission. The nurse went on shouting despite repeated efforts to explain the need for the presence of the Judge inside the ICU. 

The Judge then took up the issue with the Chief Judicial Magistrate immediately after the incident on May 27. Subramani lodged a complaint with the Gorimedu police, following which a case was registered.

Police said, the nurse had deterred the JM and the complainant from discharging their official duty.

Cow Owner Booked

A case has been booked against a cattle owner after the cow, which he let loose for grazing, was fatally knocked down by an unknown vehicle on May 15.

A social worker, Thiagarajan, filed a complaint with the Mudalirapet police against the cow’s owner, Arul, a resident of Vaithikuppam.

Police said, Arul, without taking care of his cow, left the animal on the road and the cow was hit by some unknown vehicle. The case is under investigation.

A case was registered against a cattle owner for letting his cattle stray on the road in Lawspet a few months ago.

Teacher Ends Life

A school teacher, carrying her her four-year-old son, jumped into the Ousteri lake here on Sunday. The victims were identified as Sangeetha (27), a teacher with the Maducarai Government Higher Secondary School and wife of Srinivasan, a private firm employee, and her son Amudeeswaran.

The fishermen at the lake noticed the floating bodies and informed the police. The bodies were shifted to the GH for postmortem. Police registered a case and are investigating.
