PUDUCHERRY: A person, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, murdered his 68-year-old mother on Sunday as she did not give him money for drinks, police said. The deceased was Narayanee (68), wife of Krishnaraj and a resident of Mariamman Koil Street at Kompakkam.
Police said the accused Thulasi Murugan (39) had fatally attacked his mother on the head with a grinding stone. Murugan, whose wife died last year, was staying with his mother. He used to get money from his mother for alcohol. His two children were staying with his mother-in-law, police said.
Two Cops Suspend
Two policemen were suspended for attempting to misbehave with two minor girls a few days back. The accused were Ganapathi (48) and Lenin Karuna (26).
Thavalakuppam police said the two attempted to misbehave with the minor daughters of Veeramani, a resident of Chidambaram and a security guard at a garden in Abhishegapakamm.
On May 27, Veeramani had gone to hospital along with his wife. The policemen, while making rounds, reached Veeramani’s house and allegedly attempted to misbehave with the minor girls, aged 10 and 12.
Sources said, a complaint was lodged at Thavalakuppam police station but the police refused to register it. The issue was then addressed to the higher authorities, following which an initial probe was conducted. After the inquiries, the two policemen were suspended.
