PUDUCHERRY: Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Manjula Rangarajan, on Tuesday inaugurated four cleaning equipment at the Puducherry Railway station as part of outsourced cleaning and inspected the facilities and ongoing works at the station.
The DRM said the train servicing facility would be made available in the station within ten days.
“Work on construction of third platform by altering the VIP line and electrification work is in progress. A pay and use toilet block is also being constructed at the eastern end of the platform. The Railways is currently not considering construction of compound wall due to high cost. To improve the security, the number of Railway Protection Force has been enhanced to 10,” she said
Despite operation of many trains, revenue generated from Puducherry Railway station was low, she added.
