Cops Get Custody of Mohana, Sister

VELLORE: A Katpadi court on Wednesday allowed the  police to take custody of folk dancer Mohanambal for the next 48 hours to investigate into her alleged role in the case of seizure of `4 crore in cash and 73 sovereigns of gold from a house in Katpadi on 25 last month.

Mohanambal was suspected to be having links with red sanders smuggling and related crimes. She along with her sister Nirmala had surrendered on Monday. The JM-V at the Vellore court had remanded them for three days.

On Wednesday, the Katpadi police filed a petition in Katpadi court seeking police custody of the dancer in the connection with the above mentioned cases.

Magistrate Sujatha issued an order for a 48-hour police custody of the dancer. She ordered that Mohanambal and her sister should be produced before the court on Friday evening. Following this, both were taken away by the police.
