VELLORE: A truck driver and his four-year-old son ended their lives by jumping before a speeding train near Tirupattur on Tuesday night, depressed over his wife’s unwillingness to live with them.

The deceased were identified as Venkatesan (30) of Papireddypatti near Harur in Dharmapuri district and his son Tharunkumar (4).

According to the sources said, Venkatesan’s wife Sangeetha had an illicit affair with her brother-law and both of them had moved to Jolarpet and were living together for the past two years.

The efforts of both the families to unite the couple had failed as Sangeetha once again left her family on Monday and joined her brother-in-law in Jolarpet.

Venkatesan, along with his son, who had come to sort out the issue with Sangeetha, jumped before the train and died. The Jolarpet railway police recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem at the government hospital in Tirupattur.
