Jaya Gives Financial aid to106 Poor Workers

CHENNAI: Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday presented an assistance of `50,000 each to the families of 106 workers hailing from poor economic background.
Those who received the assistance from the Chief Minister at the party headquarters, profusely thanked her for the gesture. The assistance was announced to mark the May Day celebrations.
Sakkaraichamy, a conductor from Kovilpatti said he was a heart patient and the assistance given by the CM would be helpful for his treatment. G Kaleesuvari, wife of Ganesan, conductor in Tirupur, who was killed in a road accident, said the assistance extended by the AIADMK supremo would be of great help. T Periyasamy, conductor from Namakkal, who is suffering from cancer, said the assistance given by the CM would be used for his operation.
Since Jayalalithaa was visiting the party headquarters after the AIADMK’s resounding victory in the Lok Sabha elections, party cadre and functionaries gathered on both sides of the road and gave her a rousing reception. At the party headquarters, party’s presidium chairman E Madhusudanan and Finance Minister O Panneerselvam and other leaders welcomed her.
Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday announced that the party would be organising meetings across the State from May 31 to June 2, to thank the people of the State for giving the party such a massive mandate in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections.
In a statement here, Jayalalithaa said the AIADMK government, which has been taking Tamil Nadu on the path of ‘peace, prosperity and progress’, had entered into its fourth year successfully. The thanksgiving meetings are also aimed at explaining the welfare schemes being implemented for the people. The party cadre and functionaries should also organise street-corner meetings, issue pamphlets and display wall posters in this connection, she added.
