Will Live Up to the Expectations of the People: Jaya

CHENNAI: Profusely thanking the people of R K Nagar constituency for electing her with a huge margin in the by-election, Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday promised that she would continue to live up to the expectations of the people.

“In tune with the enormous faith the people have reposed on me, I promise that I will continue to strive for fulfilling their expectations and requirements,” Jayalalithaa said in a statement here.

Stating that she has overwhelming affection to the people of Tamil Nadu and they also reciprocate the same, the AIADMK supremo said, “Out of love and affection, the people of R K Nagar constituency have gifted me with this historic victory. This by-election was held as a precursor to the 2016 Assembly election and the people of this constituency have honoured my appeal and elected me with such a huge margin. My heartiest thanks to them all again.”

In this connection, Jayalalithaa recalled the view of former Chief Minister C N Annadurai that only a true people’s movement could withstand the vicissitudes of time. “This has been proved again through this by-election result,” she added. She also thanked all party functionaries and leaders of alliance parties who had worked for her victory in the by-election.
