CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Finance and PWD Minister O Panneerselvam on Monday clarified that the Central Intelligence Bureau, in its report submitted in a petition on deputing CISF forces at Mullaperiyar dam, had not dubbed LTTE as a threat to the dam and that the Tamil Nadu government would file an additional affidavit in the SC disowning the contention of Intelligence Bureau made in its report. .

“The Central Intelligence Bureau, has said that there is threat to important structures in India including dams from Let, JeM and naxalites.  Since India had not helped the LTTE in their final war, they have taken a stand against India.  Though there is no specific threat from the LTTE to the Indian structures, precautionary steps should be taken.  The Central Intelligence has not said that there is threat from the LTTE to Mullaperiyar dam”, Panneerselvam said in his statement here.

“Since this issue has created an unnecessary grudge against the Tamil Nadu government led by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, it has been decided to file an additional affidavit in the Supreme Court explaining the stand of Tamil Nadu government.  Further, it will be clarified that the points raised by the Intelligence Bureau report in paragraph Four (points 4.1, 4.2, nd 4.4.3, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7 a8) are not agreeable to Tamil Nadu government”, Panneerselvam added.
