Release Census Data on Pondy: Ex-MoS

PUDUCHERRY:AICC general secretary V Narayanasamy on Tuesday urged the Union government to make public the Socio Economic and Caste Census (CECC) for Puducherry.

Narayansamy said the UPA regime had constituted expert committees to  find out the economic status of the urban and rural population, beside initiating caste census.

The committee had already submitted its report to the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, said Narayanasamy and demanded to know why the census report on Puducherry has been kept under the wrap. Only by publishing the census, he said, will social justice be ensured and the issue of castes with less population availing more concessions and castes with more population getting less concessions could be averted.

Meanwhile, Narayanasamy on Tuesday urged the Union government to drop its move to provide cash for rice. Further, he said, such a move will only cause hassle to the common man. The proposal should be dropped and rice should be provided through ration shops.
