Maoists Mum Over Veracity of Seized Doctors

COIMBATORE: Four Maoists arrested recently by the Q Branch police have refused to sign and confirm that documents seized by the police during raids belonged to them.

This happened when they were produced before Principal District Judge R Pongiappan here on Wednesday, at the end of their police custody.

The alleged Maoists are R Shyna (42), J Anup (31), C Veeramani alias Easwaran (60) and C Kannan (46). Roopesh, the other Maoist arrested by the the Q Branch, is still in the custody of the Kerala police.

The four gave a written statement to the judge expressing their unwillingness to attest to the legitimacy of the documents seized from them.

They also raised slogans against the police while entering and leaving the court premises.

The judge ordered that the four of them, as well as Roopesh, should be produced in the court on July 15.
