Techie Welcomes home Fort City's First Pocket Dog Chihuahua

VELLORE: Vellore now has a Chihuahua as one of its own.

Poojitha, a B.Tech graduate, looking after her family’s business, said she purchased the one-year-old ‘pocket dog’, (which stands 8 inches in height, weighs 2 kg and remains unnamed), a week back from a breeder in Madurai.

“The craze for dogs is in my blood as my mother and grandmother used to be great dog lovers,” she said. Poojitha began to study the varieties of toy dogs and when she came across the breeder in Madurai on the internet, “I decided to go for it.”

The dog has begun to follow her wherever she goes but remains uncomfortable with the surroundings.

“When once she gets used to the surroundings, I will carry it in a small bag with me,” Poojitha said.

“The Chihuahua is a good companion dog. Courageous, extremely lively, proud and adventurous, they enjoy affection. Brave, cheerful and agile, I find that they are loyal and become attached to their owners,” she observed.

Dr Manoharan, a specialist attached to the department of animal husbandry said that this is the oldest breed on the American continent and the smallest breed in the world.
