Forest Trek for Students

COIMBATORE:Coimbatore Forest Division will conduct a ‘Young Wilderness Seekers’ programme for students of classes 8-12 on Sunday, July 19, in Barlikadu near Karamadai. This is being done under the “Know Your Forests” series.

The visit would include a coracle ride in Pillur dam, a short trek along Athikadavu river and a refreshing bath in the river. Participation fee is Rs 700. Organisers will provide lunch. “This is the second ‘Know Your Forests’ programme. The first one - Trek to Longwood Shola in Kotagiri - was a splendid success,” said District Forest Officer M Senthilkumar.

This is being organised by the Coimbatore Forest Division in association with Oli Awareness Movement. Those interested can contact Oli Awareness Movement at 9486637403 between 9 am and 1 pm on weekdays. Registration closes on July 14. Entry will be restricted to the first 30 applicants. A passport size photograph and the school ID of the participant should be submitted at the time of registration.
