VELLORE:Though two months have passed since Class XII results were declared, the Vellore Corporation is yet to take any initiative to conduct an education fair or felicitate the top three rank holders from its schools.
The proposal to honour toppers was passed in the annual budget but has not been implemented for no apparent reasons. The same fate befalls Class X toppers. During the budget meet on April 30, the corporation council had decided to give incentives to students of Classes X and XII in corporation-run schools who secure the top three ranks. Unlike other corporations in the State, this is the first time that a local body in Vellore had come up with the idea of honouring corporation school toppers.
A corporation official said, “As of now, nothing has been scheduled to arrange education fair or distribute prizes. We know that other corporations in the State have done their part and that Vellore is lagging behind.”
Chairman of the education standing committee Suriyachari said, “We will discuss the issue in our meeting, which would be held in next 10 days. Soon, the prizes will be distributed and education fair will be organised.”
