TIRUVANNAMALAI:The relatives of a 21-year-old girl roughed up a man who reportedly helped her marry her lover a week ago.
The victim Suresh, a native of Kudalure village in Vandavasi, has lodged a complaint with the Thellar police stating that Kumar and his family of the same village beat him up after coming to know that his daughter Sumathi (named changed) had eloped with his (Suresh’s) nephew Anandaraj. Police said the girl was working in Chennai and stayed with her aunt in Perunkulathur. She fell in love with Anandaraj (28) but the family opposed their relationship, so the duo eloped and married a week ago.
The girl’s family picked up a quarrel with Suresh on July 5 after they learnt about Sumathi’s marriage with Anandaraj and reportedly dragged Suresh and thrashed him.
