CHENNAI: In a Statewide Lok Adalat, conducted by the Legal Services Authority on Saturday, a total of 63,491 cases was taken up, of which 19,318 were disposed of and settled to the tune of Rs 104.42 crore.
The Lok Adalats were organised following a direction of Justice TS Thakur, executive chairman of National Legal Services Authority. The Madras High Court Legal Services Committee on Saturday constituted seven Benches in Chennai and three in at Madurai.
A total of 243 benches was constituted across the state, which include six benches at Legal Aid Centre Building of TN State Legal Services Authority in Chennai.
Disputes over electricity, water and telephone were taken up for settlement in the drive, apart from family, labour, civil and motor accident Claims.
