CHENNAI: A pedestrian Desingh (30) was run over by a private hospital ambulance near Kanathur on ECR on Friday night. Police said Desingh, of Nainar Kuppam, Kanathur, came in the way of the speeding ambulance heading towards Uthandi. The ambulance driver Sakthi Kumar took Desingh by the same ambulance to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Infant Run Over
A two-month-old infant of a labourer-couple from Odisha was run over by a tractor, when the mother left the sleeping baby near a brick kiln, at Periyapalayam in Tiruvallur on Friday. Police have arrested the driver Mahendran.
Houses burgled
Burglars broke into at least four houses in the city on Friday night. Police said Rs 5.5 lakh worth gold jewellery and other valuables were taken away by the burglars from the house of Sundaramurthy, who has a fancy store on Ramanathan Street, Ayanavaram. Similarly, the house of Dhanalakshmi (40), of Appadurai Street, was targeted when she stepped out to put clothes for drying on the terrace. Two more incidents were reported in Secretariat Colony.
