VELLORE: Over 500 young traditional healers, practitioners, students and NGO representatives are taking part in a two-day workshop on ‘Higher Order Siddha Medicines’ which began on Saturday at the Patru Maharishi Temple in Sathuvacheri. The meeting, a first-of-its-kind,is being organised by the Tamil Nadu Parambariya Sidhha Mahasangam (Sangam)and the Central Council for Research in Siddha under the Ministry of AYUSH.
As many as 10 senior traitional healers from the southern States are participating and will impart practical knowledge in preparing medicines to promote the Siddha system of medicine.
Dr R S Ramaswamy, director general of CCRS, based in Chennai, who inaugurated the meet said an initiative of this kind has not been taken before. This workshop will further the practical aspects like identification of raw materials, purification and methods of preparation.
