VILLUPURAM: A 32-year-old man was found gagged and his limbs tied up in his car here early Monday.
According to sources, people passing through Ellis Chathiram Road saw the car parked on the roadside for a long time and grew suspicious. On taking a closer look, they found the man between the two rows of seats with his mouth stuffed with a cloth and his hands, legs tied. They informed Villupuram taluk police, who rescued him.
Identified as V Mohankumar of Salem, he told police that a few years ago, he got introduced to Ramya of Puducherry through the phone and he fell in love with her. Even though both their parents opposed, the couple got married two years ago and were residing in Salem. On June 22, Mohankumar, who returned home after work, found Ramya missing. He inquired with the neighbours who told him that her parents had come and taken her away.
The next day Mohankumar went to Puducherry in the car and has since been searching for her. After finally locating the place where Ramya was reportedly present, he went there on Sunday and asked Ramya to come with him. But, she refused. But Ramya’s parents asked Mohankumar to sever ties with her. As he refused, they attacked him and put him in the car after tying him up.
Since there were no injuries to his body, police suspect that Mohankumar was enacting a drama to cover up what had really happened.
