A Decade on, CB-CID Arrests Two For Murder

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The CB-CID police on Tuesday arrested two persons, who allegedly killed an elderly couple in Virudhunagar 10 years ago.

A retired income tax officer and his wife were found dead in mysterious circumstances in 2005.

The case was transferred to CB-CID as the local police could not crack it.

Even the special investigation agency did not find the accused, so the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court had ordered the agency to arrest the accused within three months, at the instance of the couple’s daughter Mary Olivia.

Meanwhile, one R Karthikeyan (33) of Pandiyan Nagar surrendered before Kooraikundu VAO Muthu claiming he conducted the murder with Balamurugan (42) of Villiputhiri.

Karthikeyan was working as assistant to Ebenezer Paul, while Balamurugan did some domestic work in his house.Both confessed to have murdered the couple to steal the gold jewels. Later,  police were given five days custody of them for  further probe.
