PMK can't 'Change' TN with 4 PC Vote Bank, Says DMK

CUDDALORE:It was evident at the DMK’s  meeting here that the PMK’s recent campaign has bothered the DMK leaders.

The meeting ‘Justice-seeking Rally’ was held at Puthuchathiram near Cuddalore on Saturday night.

A large number of DMK cadre from its 16  district units participated in the rally. The rally was held on a 140-acre land near the Cuddalore-Chidambaram Road.

Former Minister (DMK) K Ponmudi, in his speech, attacked the PMK saying, “They (PMK) have talked about ‘change and progress’ in their campaign but what will actually remain is disappointment’.

Presiding over the rally, former Minister (DMK) M R K Paneer Selvam countered the PMK’s campaign. He said, “Only Stalin will bring in the real change. Without the Dravidian party, how could he (Anbumani Ramadoss) become the  Rajya Sabha member and also the Union Minister. But now they are criticising the Dravidian parties”.

Blaming the PMK further, he said, “The party that has only 4 per cent votebank wants to rule the state”.

Addressing the gathering, Stalin said, “We held a massive rally in Madurai, titled ‘Rally to Ask Questions’ and we have asked the government many questions, but none has been answered. So now, we are holding the ‘Justice-seeking’ rally”.

Stalin further said, “It was the DMK that gave 20 per cent reservation to the MBC category, because of which the Vanniyar community benefitted. DMK also increased and provided reservation to SC, Arundhadhiyar and Muslims. DMK was instrumental in bringing in 27 per cent reservation in the Central government jobs and institutions. DMK stands for social justice”.

He criticised the Election Commission too for its alleged failure to prevent fraud in the  preparation of voters’ list. Reacting to Stalin’s remark, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sandeep Saxena said in Chennai that ‘the electoral rolls are maintained by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), who is of the rank of RDO.
