COIMBATORE:A private criminal miscellaneous petition, filed by a social activist against the officials of the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) and distilleries, for supplying and manufacturing intoxicating substances through liquor outlets, was taken up for hearing and the proceedings were adjourned to August 5 by Judicial Magistrate VII, T V Hemanthakumar on Wednesday.
The petition was filed by social activist, V G Mohammed Rafeek, from Saramedu, Karumbukadai. Three witnesses, including Rafeek gave testimony before the judge on Wednesday. Rafeek’s lawyer told reporters that a criminal complaint, which had been submitted to the judge, can be taken up by the lower jurisdictional courts in Coimbatore.
