Cop Stages Protest Over Transfer

COIMBATORE:A police constable, who did not want to be transferred to the Armed Reserve police is reported to have staged a dharna along with family members in front of the Thudiyalur police station, on Thursday evening.

Police said that the constable was charged with theft while he was at Gomangalam earlier. But he refused to be transferred, and staged a protest till the police rescinded his transfer order.

However, top police officials intervened and managed to placate the constable, who then collected his transfer orders and left the police station.
