Prohibitory Orders Lifted in Ambur

The prohibitory order that has been in place in Ambur, Vaniyambadi and surrounding areas since July 6, was lifted on.

VELLORE: The prohibitory order that has been in place in Ambur, Vaniyambadi and surrounding areas since July 6, following the eruption of violence in Ambur over the death of Shameel Ahmed - who allegedly died due to the injuries sustained during his illegal detention - was lifted on Friday. 

“As the situation is under control now, the district administration felt that the prohibitory order could be lifted. The order has been lifted from 6 pm on Friday,” Revenue Divisional Officer of Tirupattur D Renganathan said.

Initially, the order was meant to be in place from July 6 to 15 and then extended up to July 24.

Though the section 144 (1) of CrPC has been lifted, police department continues to deploy its forces in Ambur and surrounding areas.
