PUDUCHERRY: The UT government will be distributing laptops to school students free of cost and the GO in this regard was issued on July 24, with the Department of School Education placing orders for gadgets.
Chief Minister Rangasamy said around 13,000 laptops, being procured at a cost of `6 crore, would be given to the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 batch of HSC students.
Earlier, addressing newly-admitted students of IGMCRI, Chief Minister expressed concern over doctors’ reluctance in serving in Karaikal. He said though several students pass out of medical colleges in Puducherry, they were reluctant to serve in the Government General Hospital, Karaikal, and in the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the UT. So, he asked the medicos to serve in the region as well as in rural areas.
