VELLORE: Officials of  the Directorate of  Town and Country Planning (DTCP), Vellore Region, have identified nine unapproved layouts in and around Vellore and initiated action against the promoters for violating rules.

Deputy Director of DTCP, Vellore Region, S Chandrasekaran said that they have been regularly monitoring the advertisements of layouts developed by promoters and conducting inspections. During these inspections, they discovered that several promoters’ housing layouts have been done without adhering to government guidelines.

According to Section 47 A (Development of land in an area other than planning area) of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Act 1971, the promoters should obtain approval from the TCP for any land development.

The officials have identified nine unapproved housing layouts in Erayankadu, Vallimalai and K V Kuppam. “The promoters have failed to obtain appropriate permission from the department. So, we have initiated action against them,” said Chandrasekaran.

The officials have also removed the border stone erected by one of the promoters (M/S Oscar Promoters) in the unapproved housing layout in survey number 437/3-A (95 cent in land) in Erayankadu in Anaicut Taluk. The officials also erected a notice board on Thursday at the site, cautioning the public not to buy the housing plots in the unapproved layout.

“We have issued notice to eight other promoters seeking an explanation. We will take a further course of action based on the responses from the promoters,” he added.

Collector R Nanthagopal has also directed officials to find out such unapproved layouts in the district to take suitable action against the promoters.
