VELLORE:A Universal Account Number Felicitation Centre has been opened at the Sub-regional Office (SRO) of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), in Sathuvachari recently. It will be open from 7 am to 10 pm on all days.
According to a release from Himanshu Kumar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-II, Vellore, the facility is part of the e-governance initiative. The UAN allows portability of the EPF account from one employer to another without the intervention of the employers, he said.
The PF Commissioner said that it has been made mandatory for the employers to disseminate the UAN to employees and activate them within 15 days of such dissemination.
The SRO is also conducting training sessions to assist employers with the process from 3 pm to 4 pm daily. He has also urged employers and EPF subscribers to make use of the centre.
The UAN activation process consists of getting the UAN from the employers, activating the UAN-based registration from the EPFO portal (www.uanmembers.epfoservices.in), entering the UAN number, mobile phone number and EPF account number, selecting the respective EPF office from the drop-down menu and clicking on ‘get pin’ option.
