VELLORE:A 35-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Timiri on Friday evening.
The deceased Valli was the wife of Pandurangan, of Puthur in Timiri. Police said, Valli and a 10-year-old boy were grazing cows on Friday afternoon.
When it began raining, the boy returned home but she stayed back in the field with her cows.
At 3 pm, the cows returned home without her. Her husband and relatives went looking for her and found her dead in a pond filled with chemical wastes.
“The chemical factory’s waste had filled up the village pond. The company in the locality had closed three years ago, but the waste still remained stagnated in the small pond. We have sent the body for post mortem and the future course of action will be decided after receiving the report,” said a police official.
A case was registered in Timiri police station and a probe is on.
