VELLORE:Following fear of seasonal fever including dengue around Gudiyattam where a four-year-old girl died from suspected dengue, the District Siddha unit in association with the department of public health services have launched a week-long campaign in Gudiyattam town from Monday. District Siddha Medical Officer Dr Vijayaraghunathan said six teams led by Siddha doctors have been mobilised to distribute Nilavembu Kudineer (NVK) a concoction made of 13 herbs as a measure to prevent viral disease.
NVK is a known anti-viral drink and is being distributed to all schools in the town. The teams are also visiting anganvadis and the surrounding households. The combined operations by the various departments also involve destruction of mosquito larvae, fumigation and treatment of fever affected through allopathy medication by the department of health services. This will help in stemming the fevers.
