Maintenance of K-Unit I Delays Unit II

TIRUNELVELI:Unit-II of Koodankulam nuclear plant would attain criticality in February 2016, said Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) site director R S Sundar.

Talking to reporters here on the sidelines of ‘State Conference of Indian Society for Cultural Cooperation and Friendship’ here on Saturday he said the criticality of unit-II was getting delayed owing to the continuation of maintenance of unit-I. He further said that unit-I would resume by November end and added that unit-II would attain criticality in Feb 2016.

Sundar also said that 4 additional plants would be set up in Koodankulam on account of the friendly ties with Russia. Earlier, while participating in the conference, he said that ties between Russia and India is becoming prominent in the fields of space, defence and atomic energy.
