Agri College Cook Arrested For Stabbing Fellow Worker

COIMBATORE: RS Puram Police arrested a 32-year-old man, alleged to have stabbed a cook inside the hostel of a government-run agricultural college, in the city on Saturday. Police sources said that the accused, T Manimaran (32) of Tiruchy district, was working as a cook in the college. The victim, C Tamaraiselvan (23), a fellow cook, saw Manimaran consuming liquor inside the college premises on Saturday afternoon and threatened to complain to the management about the misdemeanor, leading to an argument between the two. On Saturday afternoon, when Tamaraiselvan was asleep, the accused allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed the victim on the neck and abdomen. Tamaraiselvan suffered serious injuries in the icident. His condition is stated to be  serious but stable. Based on a complaint, RS Puram police registered a case against Manimaran under section 307 (attempted murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested him on Saturday. He was later lodged at Coimbatore Central Prison.
