PUDUCHERRY: Stating that the Central government has made it clear that it would accord Statehood to Puducherry along with Delhi, former Lok Sabha member M Ramadass, on Monday, said that Chief Minister N Rangasamy should start a dialogue with his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal and work out a joint approach on the issue.
In a statement, Ramadass - endorsing the views of Rangasamy that Puducherry should be conferred statehood on political, social, economic and financial grounds at the earliest - said that the Chief Minister should convene an all-party meeting and arrive at a consensus on the issue and convert the demand for Statehood into a mass movement so as to attract national attention.
Calling upon Rangasamy to have a stable, sustained and justifiable stand on this issue, he said two MPs of Puducherry should raise the matter in Parliament.
