No Consensus Yet in Avinashilingam Univ Row

COIMBATORE:No agreement was reached at a meeting on Friday between representatives of protesting students and the management of Avinashilingam Deemed University. However, the protest has been called off temporarily in view of Deepavali. Sources said the management had given an oral assurance that they would try to ensure continuation of MHRD-UGC funding for the institution. However, teachers are skeptical about it in view of the consistent communications from UGC about its governing system. So, the protest would continue. However, as the university would remain closed for the festival season, the agitation has been suspended, they added.
