PUDUCHERRY:The DMK (South) Agricultural wing on Thursday urged the administration to declare the Puducherry region as a “calamity hit area” and waive all loans made to agriculturists. In a resolution adopted at the meeting, the party demanded that agriculture department should immediately conduct a survey to assess the losses and submit reports to the government forthwith. Another resolution was adopted in the party meeting demanding a relief of Rs 20,000 for an acre of paddy damaged, Rs 10,000 for an acre of sugarcane crop lost, and Rs 5,000 for an acre of plantain crops lost.
