AINRC to Hold Organisational Elections in December

PUDUCHERRY: In an attempt to rejuvenate the party, ahead of the 2016 Assembly elections, the ruling All India NR Congress (AINRC) is set to conduct organisational elections in three phases, according to party founder president and CM N Rangasamy.

He said that elections in the first phase would be held for towns, wards and villages’ posts, followed by polls to assembly constituencies and zonal committees. Finally, elections would be held for state general body posts.

The party’s legal advisor and former Deputy Speaker of the territorial Assembly A Bakthavalsalam, who is the also Special Representative of the government in New Delhi (a quasi administrative, quasi political position),  MLAs V Bhalan and N S Jayapal have been  appointed returning officers for the elections, Rangasamy said.

CM also urged party cadre to extend full cooperation to the returning officers to conduct the organisational elections in a smooth manner.
