2 Swept Away by Floods in Ambur Town

VELLORE:  The Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services of Ambur retrieved two bodies on Tuesday of persons who were washed away in the flood-waters in two separate and unrelated incidents. The deceased have been identified as Sukumar (25), a construction worker living near the Anaimadugu area in Ambur and Pandian of Vadapudupattu village near Ambur.

According to sources Sukumar along with his friends had gone to see the Anaimadugu check dam at the foot hills of the Naikaneri and had slipped into the water on Monday evening. He was washed away in the gushing water from the overflow of the Anaimadugu check dam. Locals informed the fire tenders and the police who had launched a search on the night were unsuccessful in finding the body that evening. His body was traced in downstream on Tuesday morning.

Not far from Ambur, Pandian who had gone to see the water gushing from the Gnanamalai hills was washed away in the flood water and his body was traced downstream on Tuesday.
