VILLUPURAM: Four persons, including a research scholar, were killed and 20 farm labourers injured in three separate accidents in the district on Monday. In the first one, three persons were fatally knocked down by an SUV after the driver fell asleep behind the wheel when the vehicle neared Kallakurichi through the Ulundurpet-Salem NH.
Pedestrians Ayyamperumal (70) and Kannan (60) of Periyampattu near Kallakurichi. and G Parasuraman (34), standing at the bus-stop, died.
In the second accident, the research scholar on a motorcycle was knocked down by a car near Vikrawandi on Monday. R Ravikumar (25) of Vikrawandi died at the JIPMER Hospital.
