IUML Seeks 8 Seats From Poll Ally DMK

TIRUCHY: The state president of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) KM Kader Mohideen here on Tuesday urged the DMK to provide them with at least eight seats to contest in the upcoming assembly polls.

Speaking on the sidelines of the state general body meeting of the party organised here, Kader Mohideen said, a state level conference of Mohalla Jamaat is scheduled to be held on March 10, 2015 at Villupuram in which the authorities of more than 11,000 Jamaat would participate. The conference would honour the benefactors of mosques, madarasas and Kabarstan and the Tiruvavadudurai Adheenakartha who donated land to construct a mosque would also be honoured. The DMK president M Karunanidhi and treasurer MK Stalin would be invited to address the gathering.

Charging that the state government failed to take any precautionary measures to prevent flooding, Kader Mohideen claimed that the damage is heavy and that the Centre should disburse at least Rs 10,000 crore for flood relief. He also urged the state government not to politicise the devestation and asked to distribute relief packages for those afected.

Meanwhile, he stressed that IUML will face the upcoming election in alliance with DMK. He also called upon all the political parties in Tamil Nadu stay united in its fight against he ruling party. The third and fourth fronts will never yield fruit, he claimed.

Mohideen appealed to the DMK, which gave one seat to IUML in Lok Sabha polls, to grant at least eight seats in the upcoming polls. New office bearers were also elected in the state conference. KM Kader Mohideen was elected State president, KAM Mohammed Abubaker as state general secretary, MSA Shajahan as treasurer.
