Interactive Session on COPD Held

PUDUCHERRY: As Part of the ‘JIPMER Health Education Initiative’ the 13th interactive session focusing on ‘Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) - Threats and Treatments’ was held here on Tuesday with the active participation of 300 people.

According to a JIPMER release, the programme focused on COPD and Asthma, the two main causes of breathlessness. Patients were explained about the differences, symptoms and how to diagnose and manage these diseases. Special focus on Children with asthma was the highlight of the programme. The public were made aware of the effects of smoking and the need to stop it. COPD is not completely curable but is definitely preventable and this aspect was emphasized.
