CHENNAI/NAGERCOIL:Two days after Opposition leader M K Stalin and other suspended DMK MLAs conducted a mock assembly inside the Assembly premises, the Chennai city police booked a case against them on Sunday.

Speaker P Dhanapal had ordered the eviction of DMK members en masse and subsequently suspended them following heated arguments on Wednesday. In protest, the party MLAs staged a mock session that lasted for about an hour.

Based on a  complaint filed by Sub-Inspector Balu and Tamilselvi, two cases have been registered at the Fort police station on August 18 and 19.

Meanwhile in Nagercoil, Stalin said the DMK conducted the model Assembly session to make people realise and understand how an Assembly session should be conducted.

Though the police have filed the cases under bailable Sections, Stalin said, “I felt that I could be arrested on the way or in the marriage hall,” said Stalin. He was in Nagercoil to participate in the marriage of former Assembly Secretary Selvaraj’s son.
