41 caught submitting fake info for army jobs

VELLORE: A bunch of army job aspirants landed in a soup when documents they submitted at the Army Special Recruitment Camp in Tiruvannamalai were found to be fake. According to sources, 41 candidates were caught on Wednesday in what is touted as the State’s biggest such scam in the army recruitment process.

Though the police are yet to register a case, the 41 candidates, predominantly from Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri, were grilled and details of the touts who arranged the documents were collected.

A Special Recruitment Camp for the posts of soldier (general duty), soldier (technical), soldier (nursing assistant) and soldier tradesman was held at the District Sports Complex from August 19. Only candidates from Chennai, Vellore, Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvallur, Cuddalore and Villupuram were invited to the camp.

Documents of about 100 candidates did not match with government records. Officials scrutinized them and found that 41 produced fake nativity, community, school leaving and transfer certificates. A probe is on.
