VELLORE: A nephew of Karagattam artiste Mohanambal, a suspected redsanders smuggler, was found beaten to death at Senganatham hills on Wednesday.According to police sources, Saravanan, living with his mother Nirmala at Tharapadavedu in Katpadi, was reportedly kidnapped by an unidentified gang on Tuesday night. Nirmala lodged a complaint with the Vellore South police.
Around 10.00 am, a police team recovered his body with injuries on his knees, hands, mouth and head. The body was sent for autopsy.
It may be recalled that in June 2014, police seized Rs 4 crore cash, 70 sovereigns of gold and redsanders logs from the house of Mohanambal in Katpadi. She was assisted by her sister Nirmala and the latter’s son Saravanan. Mohanambal and Nirmala were booked for carrying unaccounted cash. After securing bail, the trio was staying at Vasanthapuram in Katpadi.
