Sri Lanka court extends remand of Tamil Nadu fishermen

RAMESWARAM: A court in Sri Lanka today extended the remand of 54 Tamil Nadu fishermen, arrested by the navy of the island nation on charges of crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line, till September five.

The fishermen were produced before a court in Jaffna which extended their judicial remand, P Sesuraja, leader of Rameswaram Fishermen's Association, said.

The fishermen, hailing from Nagapattinam, Jagadapattinam Rameswaram and Madapam, were arrested by navy on various occasions, he said.
