Karur man still getting calls for Madurai sanitary official

Even a month after Express reported that Madurai Corporation had inadvertently posted mobile number of a Karur resident in its website the civic body is yet to rectify its error.

MADURAI: Even a month after Express reported that Madurai Corporation had inadvertently posted a mobile number of a Karur resident in its website in place of contact details of a sanitary inspector, the civic body is yet to rectify its error.

As a result, the Karur resident P K Jigesh, is still receiving calls from Madurai residents who, mistaking him for Sanitary Inspector Selva Kumar, have been complaining about garbage dumps and drainage blocks.

Jigesh, an HR employee in a private company in Karur, said that he cannot simply ignore the calls since the mobile number was a Closed User Group number given by his company. It’s via this number that his clients call him.

Despite Express’ detailed coverage on the issue and Jigesh’s repeated complaints to the Corporation as well as the district administration for more than a year, the website continues to carry his mobile number, a clear case of negligence from the part of the civic body.

Meanwhile, the silence of the sanitary inspector Kumar and the question of what he has been doing while the sanitary complaints and Swachh Bharat mission updates are being received by another person, is another puzzle.
