PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry AIADMK legislature party leader A Anbazhagan on Wednesday demanded that the BJP high command should initiate action against the party's  national secretary H Raja for his derogatory ‘personal’  remark against  Puducherry Chief minister  V Narayanasamy.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Anbazhagan said that Raja’s remark that Narayanasamy was incompetent to administer the Union territory and had become the chief minister by wiping the footwear of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi was improper and said that political leaders should confine their criticism to political rhetoric and not to personal attacks.  In a similar way to the action taken by AICC leadership against Mani Shankar Iyer, the BJP leadership should also initiate similar action against Raja, said Anbazhagan

Further Anbazhagan objected to Raja’s statement that if  BJP President Amit Shah desired, it could change the government in Puducherry within a day. He wondered how the BJP which does not have even one legislator in the territorial assembly could change the government and added that Raja’s  statement stamps his authoritarian attitude. Admitting that the need of the hour is a change in the government here, Anbazhagan said that the new government should be led by the N R Congress or the AIADMK which are the main opposition parties in the territorial assembly.

Referring to the Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi’s statement that election to the cooperative banks should be conducted forthwith,  Anbazhagan said that election should be held for all cooperative institutions.

He charged that utter chaos prevailed in the UT on account of the power struggle between the Lt. Governor and the elected government. Welfare minister M Kandasamy had stated that on account of the severe financial crisis, no schemes could be implemented.

Though he demanded the release of a white paper on the finances, the chief minister failed to release a white paper on the financial position here, he added. In different functions, Kandasamy was heard stating that ‘dual government’ is existent in Puducherry which was denied by the chief minister.

Under the circumstances, Anabzahgan demanded the immediate convening of the territorial assembly to discuss the financial situation and added that the AIADMK would submit a letter to the speaker in this regard shortly.
