Hours before crucial trust vote, one more MLA threatens to abstain

In a sudden twist, AIADMK MLA PRG Arunkumar said he would not support Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy during the confidence motion.

COIMBATORE: In a sudden twist, AIADMK MLA PRG Arunkumar said he would not support Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy during the confidence motion in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on Saturday.

The Coimbatore North MLA also made it clear that he would not support the rebel camp of O Pannerselvam either. Instead, Arunkumar decided to abstain from voting in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, when the confidence motion will be taken up on Saturday.

Arunkumar, who was in the Koovathur resort along with the other MLAs who are supporting Edappadi Palanisamy camp, came out of the resort on Friday night and reached his residence in Jothipuram in Periyanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore.

Speaking to Express, Arunkumar said that he was not satisfied with the leadership of VK Sasikala, since she appointed TTV Dinakaran as a deputy general secretary of the party.

Arunkumar also resigned his Coimbatore Urban district secretary post in the party.

"The AIADMK party was started by MG Ramachandaran, as a people movement and it was developed by J Jayalalithaa as one of the top parties in the country. However, currently the party is turning in to the hands of a family rule. I am not supporting O Pannerselvam and Edappadi K Palanisamy," he said.

He also said, he was not confined or threatened by anyone during his stay at the Koovathur resort and he walked out of the resort on his own.

Following his decision hundreds of cadres started visiting his house since Saturday early morning. "I will continue to work for the welfare of the people alone," he said.
