DMK chief Stalin taunts Panneerselvam on loyalty to the late CM Jayalalithaa

Stalin wondered why OPS lent his voice to the mystery shrouding Jayalalithaa’s death only after he stepped down as chief minister.

CHENNAI:Even as the row over displaying portraits of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in government offices is generating much heat in political circles with the main opposition party and AIADMK factions crossing swords, DMK working president M K Stalin on Sunday came down heavily on former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam questioning his loyalty to the late leader.

Stalin wondered why OPS lent his voice to the mystery shrouding Jayalalithaa’s death only after he stepped down as chief minister. “OPS said there was mystery in the circumstances leading to the death of Jayalalithaa only two months after her demise, that too because he  lost the post of CM.”

Stalin wanted to know what steps OPS had taken to hold an inquiry into the death of Jayalalithaa when he was chief minister. It has become the habit of leaders like OPS to conveniently forget his mentor if he could get a position, Stalin charged.

For his part, Panneerselvam launched a scathing attack on Stalin for demanding the removal of Jaya’s portraits from government offices. “The son (Stalin) is doing what his father (Karunanidhi) was doing - hurting people’s sentiments,” he charged.
