26 special reservation counters opened at CMBT to handle festival rush

CHENNAI: Transport  Minister M R Vijaya Bhaskar on Monday opened 26 special reservation counters for Pongal festival at Central Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), Koyembedu. Of them, two are reserved for women, while one each has been reserved for the elderly and the disabled. 

Two special counters were also opened at Tambaram Sanatorium, while a single counter was opened at Poonamallee. All the counters will work from Monday from 7 am to 9 pm. Besides booking at these special counters, those who wish to travel to places more than 300 km away can book the tickets online at www.tnstc.in.

For the convenience of passengers going to their hometown for the festival, 11,270 special buses would be run from Chennai for three days, beginning January 11 (Wednesday). These buses would be run from five locations in the city: CMBT, Adyar, Anna Nagar, Tambaram Sanatorium and Poonamallee.

This arrangement has been made to de-congest CMBT. A helpline number 044-24794709 for travel queries or to register complaints about passenger facilities in buses has also been provided.
